Two little Dallas adventures

Although it has been a while since our little Dallas adventures, I wanted to put them up on the blog because they were both so much fun!

Our first Dallas adventure: Aunt Cait Cait, Conly Rose, you and I went to the Dallas aquarium, shopping, and to the Dallas zoo! It was a last minute decision to take y’all to the zoo, but Aunt Cait Cait had the day off, so we packed you and Conly Rose in the car and took off for Dallas! When we first got there, we went to the aquarium! We saw fish, penguins, flamingos, sharks, manatees, monkeys, sloths, and so much more! You loved looking at all of these new things!

After the aquarium, we went shopping! This was a mommy adventure, but y’all were so good and let us shop.

We all pilled into a hotel room and you and Conly Rose had so much fun playing in a new place and taking a bath before bed time. The next day, we went to the Dallas Zoo. Y’all both had so much fun! We saw, elephants, flamingos, tigers,  monkeys, bugs, goats, birds, and even fed the giraffes with lettuce!!! We are so excited to take yall back to Dallas on many more trips!

The next weekend, Daddy and I had a little Dallas getaway!

I had so much fun with you on our little short trip to Dallas (Fort Worth). I was so excited for you to be able to finally get your anniversary present, your custom made boots (for our 3rd, leather, anniversary). I hope that you had so much fun getting to experience something new and I know you will have the boots forever. I cannot wait until they come in (in 14 months! Ha!)

We also got to finally use you Christmas present…George Strait tickets to his final concert of his final tour. It was a once in a lifetime show! Martina McBride, Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Faith Hill, Vince Gill, Jason Aldean, Cheryl Crow, and Miranda Lambert….all singing with George Straight! It was so amazing and I am so glad that I got to spend this weekend with you!

I love you both so much!

Words to live by: Love everyone and everything

My precious baby girl,

Words to live by: “Fall in love with as many things as possible.”

Looking back on the past 28 years of my life, I have found I am the happiest when I am in love. Not just in love with your daddy, but in love with Christ, you, my family, my friends, my hobbies, my adventures, my blessings….in love with my life!

There have been periods of time in my life when I have been down or negative or unhappy or restless. These all stem from lovelessness, sometimes knowingly, and other times it is more subtle and the negativity works its way in. If you ever begin to feel that way…step back, asses your situation at that time and ask yourself “am I in love with anyone or anything and am I showing that love?”

Being in love with Christ, people, places, things, ideas, adventures and activities feeds your soul. It allows you to surround yourself with lovely things and people, and in return, you can give that love back to the world. Nothing will make you happier than spreading love to others!

There are so many different ways that you can share your joyful and loving heart with others. First, and most importantly, you can spread the love of Christ with others. There is no greater love that the love that Christ has for us and my prayer is for everyone to feel that great love within them. Also, you can use your God given talents (and I know you will have may!) to make others feel loved. Find what you are good at, and use it for God’s glory and to spread happiness to as many people as you can. The Lord gave you your talents for that very reason. Finally, always be adventurous! You will never experience the beauty in this world if you do not explore it!

Do everything you can to always put negative thoughts out of your mind and heart so that your soul can be filled with joy! There will always be people who will try and stifle your flame, but you will always have to overcome, show them love, and continue to be a happy person.

In summary, how to fall in love with as many things as possible: Love Christ first, spread the Lord’s word, surround yourself with Christ loving, positive, fun people, use your talents, find as many hobbies as you can that make you happy (art, gardening, running, volunteering….anything!), seize every opportunity to be adventurous,  and always give love to everyone!

I am so in love with you!

Little toes in the sand….

My little beach bunny,

It’s safe to say…you love the beach! This year was night and day from our beach trip a year ago. What a difference a year makes. This year we went to the beach twice…once with our friends, and later with Grammie and PawPaw. Each time you had a blast! You love playing in the sand and waves. You smiled from ear to ear the whole time we were there.

On our first beach trip, we went with the Burrough’s, the Berry’s, and the VanZandts. We went to Destin, Fl and we all stayed on one house about a block from the beach. We were only there for 4 days, and we could only go to the beach for one and a half days because of the weather. But when it was too cover-cast and a little cool, then we went shopping and hung out at our beach house and swam in the pool. We also took a bunch of beach pictures, thanks to Mrs. Kristin. They all turned out so cute and I am so glad we have those pictures to remember that trip. The plan is to make it an annual friend vacation!

On our second beach trip, we also went to Destin, FL. We stayed in a condo with Grammie, PawPaw, Uncle Bobby and Aunt Dee. We stayed in the master bedroom because there was a big closet and that is where we put your pack and play for you to sleep (we wanted you to have your own space because you are such a light sleeper). The weather was perfect the whole time we were there. You played on the beach every day we were there. You played in the sand, ran in the waves, and went up to everyone on the beach and waved and smiled. You wanted to play with every little person on the beach and there were some really sweet girls from Georgia that played with you every day and helped you find seashells. I kept the seashells that you found and I am going to make our “trip” ornament out of them. You were such a happy baby on this trip and we had so much fun and we made so many fun memories. We cant wait for next year!

Lions, Tigers, and Bears!…and Easter Bunnies too!

A trip to Nana’s- the Zoo and Easter Sunday

After your birthday party on Friday, we loaded up the car on Saturday morning and headed to Jackson to see Nana for Easter! When we got there, we met Nana for lunch and then took you to the zoo for the first time! You saw monkeys, giraffes, a rhinoceros, ostriches, zebras, flamingos, leopards, and more! We even took you to ride the carrousel! You love it and had so much fun! We cannot wait to take you again.

On Easter Sunday, you wake up to a lot of Easter goodies in your Easter baskets! You had so much fun playing with all of your little toys and trinkets….daddy even let you eat some jelly beans that were in his Easter basket. Later, we decided not to go to church, but instead go to Papaw and MaJean’s house to hear Papaw preach the Easter sermon. We are so blessed to be able to hear him speak. Your great grandfather is the most Godly man I know and knows more about the bible than most people. He has read the bible countless times, devoted his life to Ministry and mission work, and studies the work every day and lives by it. We cannot even imagine how fortunate we are to be able to learn for someone who knows so much about the scripture. After he gave the sermon that moring, all of my aunts, uncles and cousins came over and we had a big Sunday lunch. Everyone couldn’t wait to see you, because it has been a while since we have been there to visit, but you were very shy and stand of-ish. You have recently developed stranger anxiety and frown at most people who try and talk to you. But you were very quick to get down and play with my second cousins that are your age. You eventually warmed up to most people and even went on an Easter egg hunt with the cousins. You loved being out there in the country and you loved to run down to the pond. You played so hard all day and had a great Easter weekend!

Birthday Party Day! (4/18/14)

Birthday Party Day! A Cake and Ice Cream Party!

I have still be a little under the weather, I pulled a muscle in my rib cage from coughing so much so it is hard to move and do a lot, but we still decided to go ahead with your birthday party! Everything was perfect! It was a success! Since we decided to reschedule for the evening time, I ordered several pizza, had dips, and of course…Cake and Ice cream! I made your cake, and smash cake, which turned out so cute! All of your little friends came over and they played on your new swing set, ate pizza, watched you tear into your smash cake, ate cake and ice cream, and watched you open presents! We even had an Easter egg hunt! Again, you got so many great toys and had so much fun playing with your friends! You are so blessed!!!

Bad news birthday (4/11/14)

Your Birthday Party!

Bad news…we are both sick! We both have the crud… me more so than you, but I still called the doctor to come and take a look at you. I have felt pretty terrible…coughing, runny nose, body aches, etc. and you have not been 100%. The doctor can and after talking to her, we have decided to postpone your birthday party so that we do not get anyone else sick. Your Nana is still going to come in town this weekend to see you for your birthday and to help us while we are sick since daddy is on a fishing trip. We have postponed your party for the following Friday, April 18 (Good Friday). I hope we will be better by then.

Twelve Months (4/9/14)- Happy Birthday Hayley!!!

My Precious Birthday Girl, HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY HAYLEY!!! I cannot believe my new born baby is suddenly a year old! It seems like just yesterday you were in my belly and I was going into labor with you! Today is such a special day! In our house, birthdays are a BIG DEAL! It is the day we celebrate you! We celebrate that God gave you to us! We celebrate who you are and how much we love you! We thank God for you, for the love he created for us parents to give to their children, and for the joy you bring to us every day….just for being you! You have taught us to love in a way that we never knew we could, you filled a void in our lives that we never know we had, and you lit up our world brighter than we knew was possible! We love you more than anything else in this world, so today baby girl….we celebrate YOU!!!! Happy Birthday to my energetic, happy, sassy, full of life, smart, curious little angel!

This past year has been the greatest years of our lives! The second you were born, our world changed…for the better! Although there has been some challenging times (with breast feeding, lack of sleep, and you fighting sleep), it was all worth it and we are so thankful for every trial we had, so that we could learn to be better parents to you. You are our first child, so we didn’t know much about having a baby before you were born, but we have had so much fun learning with you. You have been one of the happiest babies I know. You love to smile and play and you are the cutest and most beautiful little girl! I am constantly being convicted to be a better mother every day, and I pray every day that the Lord will show me the way to be the best mom to you. For all of the love and joy you have brought to my life, I only hope to repay you with that love and that I can make you proud to call me your mom.

This past month has been busy! You are such a busy girl! You are constantly in motion….playing, exploring, dancing (yes…you love to dance! You hear music…stop…smile…and start shaking your hands to the beat. It makes us laugh all the time!), and even running. You love to run and play chase. We say “I’m gonna get you!!!” and you take off running to you bedroom where there is a soft elephant chair or a big teddy bear that you run and fall into, giggle and wait for us to come tickle you. This is your favorite game! You also LOVE to play outside! You love the sunshine and grass and you always want to be outdoors! I love that you always want to be outside and explore new things.

Your Uncle Bobby and Aunt Dee got married this month (March 21), and we made the trip down to Houston so that we could all be in the wedding! You daddy was the best man, me…a bridesmaid, and you….the cutest flower girl that ever lived! I made your dress for the wedding and you were so precious! You were pulled down the isle in a wagon that your Grammie decorated so beautifully al in white ruffles! You did such a good job! You didn’t cry and everyone ooooed and ahhhhed over how cute you were! It was a very special weekend! Also, while we were in Houston for their wedding, we also went to the Houston rodeo. You loved it! We walked around and went to see the livestock show. You loved looking at the cows, horses and pigs. Then we went into the arena to watch the rodeo and you had so much fun!

There have also been a few things happen this month that you didn’t exactly like.  First, we put you in the church nursery for the first time. Before then, we have brought you into church with us and (most of the time) got you to take your morning nap during the service. Now, since you rarely take a morning nap anymore, you are very vocal in church. So we decided it is time for you to be around other children your age and to get used to us being gone. The first time we took you was not a good experience. You cried the whole time! The nursery workers tried to take you for a buggy ride, and take you for a walk, but for the most part you were very upset that we left you. The second time you did great when we dropped you off. You went straight in and started playing and so we left and went to church. When we came to pick you up, you had been crying for a while. It breaks my heart when you get so upset like that, but we are doing it for your good so that you can get used to being around other kids your age and to get used to us being gone for a little while. We will keep working on it.

Secondly, you got your first vaccine! Before you were born, your daddy and I did a lot of research on childhood vaccines and decided to implement an alternative vaccine schedule with you (space out the vaccines, delay them, and eliminate unnecessary ones) in order to benefit your immediate and long term health. With a normal vaccine schedule, you would have received several shots but the time you are a year old, but since we decided to delay, you got your first one not too long ago. You did very well but I know it hurt you and you cried for a little bit. We have prayed countless prayers about the direction we should go with your vaccines, and the lord protected you from any side effects so far!

We also had fun taking your one year pictures! My friend Kristin VanZandt took them and did such a great job. Since your party is cake and ice cream themed, we decided to not only let you dive into a smash cake for your pictures, but we did it bigger! I made 5 cakes…yes 5….for you to tear into. It was so cute and you LOVE cake! After we got all of the pictures we needed, we couldn’t get you to stop eating the cake! I will cherish those pictures forever!

Today we had family over for dinner to celebrate your birthday, even though you and I both are under the weather, me more so than you. I went to the doctor two days ago to get a shot to keep from passing it on to you, but I am afraid I may have been unsuccessful. Anyway, you Grammie, Pawpaw, Gappy and Grandma came to eat fajitas, cake and ice cream. Again, we gave you a big slice of cake and you dug into it and we could hardly make you stop (because you were eating too much…ha!) Then we opened your presents (a ton of them from your grandparents and us). You had so much fun and got so many fun toys! We gave you a swing set, a Minnie mouse car, a mini piano and xylophone (because you love music), and much more! You Gappy and Grandma gave you a play golf club set and a tricycle. Grammie and Pawpaw gave you toy dogs, a swimsuit, play dishes and cookware and much more! You are such a blessed baby to have so many people who love and care about you and for all of your toys. Most children do not have a fraction of what you have and I pray that you will grow up thankful and humbled by all of the blessings that the Lord has given you!

Happy Birthday precious baby!

Eleven Months (3/9/14)

Wow! Time is flying by! I cannot believe you are 11 months old! Some days I feel like you should still be 3 months old. You will be one year before we know it. You are starting to become more like a toddler and less like a baby every day (which is sad for me because I want you to stay a baby forever). You are learning so fast these days and are playing so well with your toys, learning what they do, and how to use them. You love your baby dolls and you will even hug and rock them. You are so cute!

11 months (4)

You are walking everywhere! No crawling for you anymore. Once you figured out how to keep your balance you never looked back!

11 months (2)

You are now feeding yourself finger foods. We give you soft foods and you will feed yourself a meal. Although you are getting a little bit better, you still make a huge mess every time you eat. Luckily, Dixie is there to clean up any scraps you may drop on the floor. Once night, you ate spaghetti for the first time and when you were done, we let Dixie lick some of the noodles off of you to help clean you up. Ha! You didn’t mind because you love Dixie. You are always sharing your toys with her. Now that you eat finger foods, you favorites include pasta/ mac and cheese, fried fish, avocados, squash and any fruit. If you are not wanting to eat, we just put fruit on it and you will eat it. You love anything sweet! (You get that from me!)

11 months (1)

You keep us laughing all the time! You are always smiling and playing peek-a-boo and it just melts are hearts when you laugh. Recently, I have started singing “If you are happy and you know it” when you take a bath and you will clap your hands to the song. So cute!

11 months (3)

This month we hit a HUGE milestone! One that makes my life so much easier and less stressed- you will put yourself to sleep on your own! I cannot believe it! This is so exciting to me because it took so much out of me having to get you to sleep when you were fighting your sleep. Now, I can give you a bottle, rock you, ad of you are restless and do not want to be still, I can just put you in your crib and you will go to sleep on your own without crying. Before, you would cry every time I put you down, even if you were asleep. The second I would put you down, you would wake up and cry- but not anymore! I have gotten on my knees and thanked the Lord for this! It has taken so much stress off of me! Whew! Now I can just enjoy rocking you, asleep or not, without feeling like I am always having to wrestle you to be still and go to sleep. Praise the Lord!

The other day I saw this quote that I thought was something, no matter what age you are, or no matter the situation, it will always apply “Attitude is the difference between an ordeal and an adventure.” I want you to always know that your attitude is a game changer in any situation, no matter what the circumstance. You can always turn a bad situation into a positive one, a crummy day into a joyful one, or a sad moment into a learning experience. And only you can change your attitude, and only you can maintain a positive attitude. It will always require prayer and sometimes guidance, but you are always capable of anything with the right attitude. Don’t let a bad attitude, or someone else’s bad attitude, steal the joy you have in your life. You can live a different life (of happiness, opposed to negativity) just by having the right mindset.

I love you SO much!
