To My Dearest Will…

To my dearest Will,

At 34 weeks pregnant, we finally decided what to call you. FINALLY! We have known from day one, before we ever had children, that our first born son would be called William George Bowdon V, but we just never knew what we would call you. After months of going back and forth between Liam (which was thrown our very early on), George and Will, daddy finally deiced to call you Will! I am so happy! Several of our friends had their opinions too about nicknames…Cinco (5 in Spanish, like Cinco de Mayo) and Nickel (like the coin…or 5 cents). Ha!!!! Hopefully none of these will stick! 😉

Thinking back on the day I found out I was pregnant with you was so exciting! Your Daddy was gone hunting in Kansas for the week and Hayley and I were at home. I had taken Hayley to Aunt Cait Cait’s house to play with Conly Rose one day while your daddy was gone and I couldn’t help but feel sick. I dismissed it as something I ate and didn’t think much about it until later that night. I took a pregnancy test, looked at it immediately, no line popped up, so I just threw it away. The next day I took Hayley to Mother’s Day out and was going to go for my run but I just had no energy. I saw Aunt Cait Cait there and told her that I was feeling so sluggish and tired and, just then, it hit me that I didn’t give the pregnancy test 5 minutes to develop before I threw it away. So I ran home, went straight to the trash, dug out the test, and sure enough….there was a faint line that means you are pregnant! I couldn’t believe it! Literally….so I grabbed a water bottle (to chug so I could teetee again), my purse, got in the car and rushed to the store to buy a test. I came home, took it, and sure enough! The line was darker….I was pregnant! I was so excited! There is no feeling like it! I was busting and wanted to tell someone but we have always kept our pregnancies a secret until we go to the doctor (because of our miscarriage before Hayley), and to top it off…your daddy was out of town and I didn’t want to tell him over the phone!  So I kept my excitement in and to myself for the next few days. Later in the week your daddy finally got home and I surprised him with the pregnancy test. He could believe it! He actually said “No way!” Haha!

We also told our parents (your grandparents) before we went to our first doctor’s appointment to hear your heartbeat because I was starting to feel bad morning sickness and we figured we needed help with Hayley while I was feeling so bad. And it didn’t take ling for the morning sickness to set in and gradually get worse. I felt nauseous when I was pregnant with Hayley, but this time it was so much worse! I was nauseous all of the time, weak, SOOOO tired and I always felt like I had very low blood pressure and blood sugar… I even threw up several times! I was sick from about week 6 to week 14 or 15. It lasted what seemed like forever and I tried every natural remedy known to man to try and get rid of it, even acupuncture! The only thing that helped was prescription medication but I only took it a couple of times because I was too scared of the side effects it could have on you. I felt like such a bad mother to Hayley for so long becuase there was so much that I physically could’t do for her because I was so sick. But your daddy was such a huge help! He cooked, took care of Hayley a lot, let me sleep a lot, and waited on me hand and foot. I was SOOOO glad when I was finally able to feel better and have more energy! Despite all of the sickness, I know you are SOOOOOO worth it!

At 15 weeks pregnant (December 9) I went to the doctor to find out if you were a boy or a girl! We so badly wanted a boy, especially your daddy! He wants a boy to hunt and fish with and to do all of the fun things he does with his dad. So that day, your daddy stayed home to watch Hayley and I went to have the ultrasound. The ultrasound tech looked to find the sex, but I asked her not to tell me, but to just put the pictures in an envelope so that your daddy and I could open the envelope together at home and find out at the same time. When my appointment was over i couldn’t get home fast enough! As soon as I walked in the door, your daddy opened the envelope, screamed “IT’S A BOY!!!” over and over and was running through the house with excitement and jumping over the furniture! We were SO EXCITED!!!!

But despite our excitement, we decided to keep it a secret until Christmas so that we could surprise our parents. We told everyone (family and friends) that we decided not to find out the sex like we did with Hayley, even though we already knew you were a boy. Sneaky, sneaky ;). We decided to tell Grammie and PawPaw first since you were being named after PawPaw (and Daddy). To tell them, we wrapped up a large picture frame with 5 pictures… all pictures of each William George Bowdon (Your great-great grandfather (the first William George Bowdon), your great grandfather (William George Bowdon Jr.), Your PawPaw (William George Bowdon III), You daddy (William George Bowdon IV) and your ultrasound picture…William George Bowdon V! We saved the gift for last and let Grammie and PawPaw sit together and open it. At first they just thought it was pictures of the first 4 Willaim George’s, but it didn’t take them long to figure out there was a 5th picture, that it was you, and that meant we were having a BOY! They are so excited! They started to scream and PawPaw cried! It was so sweet! Later that night we had Gappy and Grandma over and had Hayley in a shirt that said “Big Sister to a Little Mister.” They saw the shirt and were so excited! We also called Nana to tell her, since she was out of town. Everyone could not be more excited to meet you and add a little boy to the family!

This pregnancy overall has been more difficult, but (from what the doctor says) it is typical. I am sore, more tired, my back hurts a lot and sleeping isn’t easy because I am uncomfortable. But I have very much enjoyed being pregnant! I love to feel you move! It is the most amazing feeling! You move so much, turning, kicking, and even hiccuping almost every day. With only four and a half weeks left, I am feeling very VERY preganat, but I am enjoying it so much and soaking up every minute of it before you get here. I can’t wait to meet you and see what you look like, kiss all over you and spoil you with tons of love! I am also so excited to see Hayley become a big sister! She loves babies and is starting to talk about “baby brother” more and more. You are already so blessed because you have an amazing family who already loves you so much!!!! We will see you around May 30th and we cant wait!

We love you!

Your mommy

A Week At The Beach

Our family beach trip of 2015 was a success!

We went back and forth with the idea of going before or after Will was born (YES….Will….we finally decided what to call you!) and ultimately decided to go before his grand debut. We decided that for several reasons, one being that it is hard to travel with a baby (much less a baby AND a toddler) but mainly because we wanted to give Hayley one last “only child” trip. A trip that was all about her! And all about her it was!

We (Grammie, PawPaw, Mommy, Daddy and Hayley…and Will too although he is in my tummy) all drove down to Peridio Key, FL for the week, although we almost didn’t go. We checked the weather forecast several days before leaving and the weather all week long looked not so great for the beach…lots of clouds and rain almost every day. I was so disappointed because I wanted this trip so badly, not only for us as a family, but for Hayley to have a great time. When were down to only a few days to decide, the weather was looking a little better (not great) but we said we would give it a shot anyway. So off we went! We left on a Sunday and stopped in Ruston to see the Trudes and in Jackson to see Nana, Papaw and MaJean. Hayley, you did great in the car. You just watched your movies and took a very short nap (For some reason you don’t like to sleep in the car at all). When we go there it was cloudy and windy, but since all you could talk about for 8 hours was “goin to da beeeeach!” we took you down to play in the sand and water for a little while before dinner. You LOVED it! You have had so much fun all week playing in the sand, building sandcastles and immediately knocking them down, playing with your beach ball, collecting shells, running with Grammie up and down the beach (she is your play-mate and the only person you want), and feeding the birds left over popcorn. You are just not a fan of having sand on your hands so we always keep a bucket of water near by for you to rinse your hands off. You will literally do this over and over and over again! Ha! And we actually had pretty amazing weather the whole time we were here! Thank God! It was sunny almost every day, and if it wasn’t sunny, it wasn’t raining so we could still go out to the beach. You played so hard every day that you slept so good every night! It was a successful trip!

Hayley, it has been such an amazing week watching you play, discover and learn about all the new things the beach has to offer. You are so much fun and so FUNNY! You are learning things so fast these days and it blows my mind how smart you are. You have taught me so much this week (and every day) about letting loose and having fun and how great it is to do that! I love you so much and I hope your last “only child” vacation was a blast for you!

Bill, Thank you so much for all you have done this week to help me out. Going to the beach 35 weeks pregnant is  not easy and especially not with an energetic two year old, but you have made it as easy as possible. From the little things like just picking her up, putting her in her highchair because it isn’t easy for me, and staying in the room with her for her nap so I could read my bible study on the beach and have some “me” time. Even running up and down the beach trying to get pictures of her for High Cotton.  You are so great and do so much for me and I appreciate you more than you know. I couldn’t have done this week without (or your parents) and I thank you so much! How did I get so blessed with an amazing husband AND in-laws?!?! I thank God every day for yall! XO

I have so much fun this week with my family and there was no other place on the planet I would rather be! I love yall!

Hayley Turns 2!!!

Happy Birthday…you are TWO!!!

WOW!!! I just can’t believe it! You are TWO! Where has the time gone! This is such a fun age and you are such a joy! I wish you could stay this little forever! You are so sweet, playful, adorable and learning new words and things at lightning speed! You are so smart, you amaze me every…single….day. You are my best buddy and we have so much fun together, all day every day. From playing, to running errands, every day is a new adventure with you and I soak up every second of it!

We had such a big week celebrating your birthday! Your birthday was on a Thursday and your daddy and I spent Wednesday night putting the final touches on your big girl room so it would be ready for you on your birthday! We woke you up on your birthday by surprising you with a bunch of pink balloons being thrown into your room! You smiled and laughed and loved playing with them! I fixed you home made pancakes and syrup (your FAVORITE!) and then we headed off to Altitude (the trampoline play park) to meet Conly Rose and jump (another one of your favorite things!). Y’all had the best time playing, jumping and laughing!

Your Big Girl Room! (Painted and decorate by Mommy and Daddy)

Fun at Altitude!

IMG_0911 IMG_0915 IMG_0925

You two worked up an appetite jumping (and your pregnant mommies also needed food), so we took you two to Chic Fil A (y’alls favorite) and had chicken nuggets, fries and chocolate chip cookies! I normal do not allow you to eat a lot of sweets, but it is your birthday so you can have whatever your little heart desires! 😉 Then it was home for a nap to rest up for your family birthday dinner!

Later that night we all (You, Daddy, Grammie, PawPaw, Gappy, Grandma, and I) went to go eat at Notini’s Restaurant so that you could have PIZZA! (Yes I know, a day of junk food…its rare, but it’s your birthday).  When you first got there you were very shy and kept covering your eyes. But as you warmed up you began to have a great time. You ate a lot of pizza (another one of your favorites), cheese, tomatoes and bread. I also made a birthday cake and we sang you happy birthday, let you blow out candles, and then tear in to the cake by yourself (before cutting us all a piece). You also got to open presents! Grammie and PawPaw got you balloons and a Frozen bear that sings a song from the move and also has a recording of Grammie singing you happy birthday. Grandma and Gappy got you a Sofia doll (that you LOVE!) and your daddy and I got you Sofia bath toys (as well as your big girl room). You loved spending time with everyone! It was a great night. We left, took you home, and tucked you into your brand new big girl bed in your brand new big girl room! You love your room and your bed so much! You never had a problem transitioning into your new room…you love it!

The weekend was your birthday party! (Saturday morning) You had a “Pancakes and Pearls” themed party the was very  girly and decorated with  pink, gold and pearls! We made pancakes and fruit for everyone to eat, as well a giant pancake and pearl birthday cake! We had a lot of toys for you and your friends to play with and pearl necklace (pearl Mardi Gras beads) for everyone to wear. We have you an outside playhouse for your present and you and your friends played with that, in your jumpy house and with your golf cart. You got to open presents and everyone sang you “Happy Birthday” before you blew out your candles! It was such a fun party and you had a great time with all of your friends!

IMG_3959 IMG_4042 IMG_4040 IMG_4032 IMG_4026 IMG_4023 IMG_4017 IMG_4012 IMG_4008 IMG_4007 IMG_4005 IMG_4003 IMG_4002 IMG_3998 IMG_3993 IMG_3988 IMG_3979 IMG_3977 IMG_3976 IMG_3967 IMG_3966 IMG_3964 IMG_3960

Although your birthday party was over, we still had a busy weekend ahead of us! Since so many of your friends share early April birthdays, we had a few more parties to go to (and we had Krislyn’s the weekend before). Later that Saturday afternoon we went to Henzley’s birthday party out at 7th Heaven Ranch and you got to ride a horse! You loved riding it the first time! The second time we put you on it with Krislyn, the horse sneezed and scared you so bad that you didn’t want anything to do with it anymore. 🙁 You also got to pet a miniature horse and baby goats. It was a fun party  with all of your friends! Sunday, Nana kept you while we went to church (since you get sick every time we take you to Tiny Town at church, and then mommy left to go host a baby shower for Aunt Cait Cait and baby Christian. When that was over, I rushed home to get you and daddy and off to another birthday party we went! This time for Journee and Joplin. It was also at Altitude (the trampoline park). You had even more fun this time jumping than you did a few days ago! You jumped for a solid hour! Then you ate pizza and cupcakes and you had the blue icing everywhere! Ha! But you enjoyed it so I didn’t care. It was such a fun weekend getting to celebrate you and all of our friends! You were one tired girl on Sunday night! And mommy was pretty exhausted too. But it was worth it all!

IMG_0988 IMG_1064 IMG_1057 IMG_1037 IMG_1034 IMG_1021 IMG_1016 IMG_1011 IMG_1004 IMG_0994

I hope you had an amazing time on your birthday. I know you are only two and will not remember your party, the gifts your received, or who was all there, but as you look back on the pictures just know that there is nothing we love to do more than celebrate you, your life, and the joy that you are to us! Although I spend so many of my days wishing you would never grow up, growing up is what you will do. So every year on April 9 (and every day for that matter), I will cherish, celebrate, and thank God for the one and only Y-O-U!!! I love you more than you will ever know!

Hippy Hoppity…Easter Weekend 2015!

Family, Easter Egg Hunts, Easter baskets, and Birthday Parties…OH MY! Our Easter weekend was so much fun! Uncle Bobby and Aunt Dee came in town on Friday for the holiday weekend and we had a fish fry! PawPaw caught a ton of fish (especially just for you!) and we fried then, ate and had a great time! On Saturday morning, we took you to the Easter Eggstravaganza at church to let you hunt Easter Eggs! You found so many eggs, ran, played, get a balloon flower, and even got to see the Easter Bunny!

IMG_0784 IMG_3895 IMG_3897 IMG_3899 IMG_3905 IMG_3908 IMG_3923 IMG_3929

Later that afternoon, Krislyn had her birthday party at AirU (a trampoline park). We went (although we were late because mommy go the time wrong….pregnancy brain is killing me!) and you had the best time jumping and laughing!

IMG_3946 IMG_3947 IMG_3948

That night, we went to Grammie and PawPaw’s and had a crawfish boil with Uncle Bobby and Aunt Dee! You had a fun afternoon playing and we all ate a bunch of yummy crawfish your daddy boiled (everyone but you…you had left over fried fish).

IMG_0797 IMG_0799 IMG_0814 IMG_0823

Sometime during the night the Easter bunny came to visit you and left your Eater basket! It was filled with games, coloring books, sunglasses, swinsuits,  DVD’s and Mickey Mouse bath toys! I even made you Easter pancakes before church!

IMG_0825 IMG_0829 IMG_0832 IMG_0835

It was pouring rain when we went to Easter service that morning, but we didn’t care. We were just happy to be there! And we even let you sit in big church with us! You behaved really well (most of the service) and played with you toys while we listened in church. Since we went to early service, we had brunch at Grammie and PawPaw’s afterwards. It was a great fun-filled weekend with family to celebrate Christ’s death, burial and resurrection!

IMG_0842 IMG_0847 IMG_0849

Although we can get caught up in being busy with family and events on holidays such as this, I was you to always remember how amazing the sacrifice was for God to send His son to die on the cross for our sins! We are so undeserving of forgiveness, yet he freely gives it to us as we love and accept Christ into our lives. What an amazing gift!!!

Love, Mommy

Life Lately

Darling Hayley,
Life has been so much fun and so busy lately! The weather is starting to  get warmer and the sun is starting to shine after what seems to have been a very long, cold and gloomy winter. We are in full swing of getting ready for baby brother, getting your big girl room set up, preparing for your birthday party and our upcoming beach trip, and trying to grow High Cotton Closet.

During the winter, although the frequent rainy, gloomy days were not much fun, we had a couple of snow days (well…sleet one day, snow two days later) and it was so pretty and fun! You loved the snow, and you still talk about it. We played outside in the snow, let you discover the white powdery cold stuff with your hands, let the snowflakes fall on your face and even built a couple of snowmen!

Although the snow was fun, we are glad to see it go and have sunshine and warmer temps. It has rained a lot these past couple of months and you (and me as well) were going stir crazy inside. You love to play outside and this past week we have been able to enjoy the sunshine and warmer weather in the backyard and we even had a couple of park days. You and Conly Rose played so good at the park the other day. You were running around, playing in the sand, and even sliding down the slides all by yourself! You are becoming such a big girl right before my very eyes! I love to watch you grow, but of corse as your mommy, it makes me sad to see those baby days gone and the toddler days getting fewer and fewer.

40 41 42

Also at the park, we met up with all of your little friends and dyed Easter eggs! You had fun, but you weren’t that into it yet. You would throw the eggs into the cups full of dye and dye would splash all over the place. You didn’t quite understand, but you managed to dye about 5 eggs and put stickers on them. You are proud of those eggs!

50 49 48 47 46

And speaking of Easter, Aunt Cait Cait, Kristin and myself took you, Conly Rose and Paxton to “Breakfast with Bunnies.” You had a great time! You got to take a picture with a live bunny (which you weren’t crazy about), meet the life size Easter bunny (you loved him and kept wanting to go back), and meet Princess Sofia (who you love)!

30 29 24 23 22 21

Also, a few weeks ago, we celebrated Valentine’s Day. We made crafts for your grandparents valentines gifts, and for daddy too. You also had a Valentine’s party at school.

15 3 14 13 12 11 5 4 2 1

Since you are getting older, we have hit the inevitable “not so terrific twos!” (I hate to call them the “terrible twos” as they are more commonly referred to.) you are really brining to develop your own opinions, thoughts and attitude. I love that you are becoming more and more your own little person, but at the age of two, you don’t know exactly how to control your emotions, but all you know is that you have them…and a lot of them. You are easily frustrated playing with toys (when you can’t get something just right, or something gets stuck). You get very upset when we tell you “no” or you do not get your way. You will yell, scream, cry and hit to try and express your anger or frustration. And trying to give you a bath? Don’t get me started. Ha! All of this is completely normal for your age, but your daddy and I are really having to change the way we parents and adjust to your new little personality. We are learning a lot of patience, trying to figure out how to disciple (which is so hard) and how to work together with you. This stage is referred to as the “terrible twos” but I am bound and determined to make it the terrific twos! We will get through it better than we thought!

(Our crying fits are not fun)

31 35

(and you do things I tell you not to do, just because I say not to)

And although you have had your difficult moments, you are still the same sweet little girl you always have been. You love to give hugs and kisses, you say “I love you mommy” and “I love you daddy”, you take care of your baby dolls and stuffed animals, and you love to dance to your toddler tunes and Disney songs. You help me unload the dishwasher, put laundry in the dryer, pick up toys, fill up Dixie’s good bowl and you give her a dog treat every morning. When you give her a treat you always hold up one finger and say “one at a time!” Which is what we tell you when you are eating, so that you only put one thing in your mouth at a time.

45 44 38 32 33 36 28

You are talking more and more, and still repeating everything we say. After we get our milk, ready a story and say our prayers before bed, you go climb into your bed and I call for daddy to come in to give you a goodnight kiss too. I will yell to the living room “hey Bill” and he knows you are in bed and will come tuck you in. Now that I have said that a couple of times, you get in bed and say “hey bill!” Haha!!! It is so funny!!! Some other funny things you say:
“I hold you”- if you want me to hold you.
“Wait ‘cher turn!” (Wait your turn)
“I see it!”- every time I hold my phone up to take a picture or video of you, you won’t even let me snap a picture before you want to see it so I can never take a picture before you are running to the camera to see it. Haha!

You also love to sing the itsy-bitsy spider, veggie tails, the muffin man, hokey pokey, you are my sunshine, and no more monkeys jumping on the bed.

My pregnancy has been going really well! Little WGB5 is always moving around and kicking. The farther along I get, the more difficult things are- like playing in the floor with you, holding you for too long, and my back hurting. But overall, everything is going great! You don’t show much interest in my belly, although sometimes you will rub it when we are in the shower and kiss it when I tell you to give baby brother a kiss. I try and explain to you that we are going to have a baby come to live at our house soon and he is going to be your little brother, but I am not sure you understand. They other day I had you on my lap and I was trying to explain to you that baby brother is in mommy’s tummy and that he is going to come live with us soon. About that time Dixie started to bark (which she does when someone comes to our house) and you said “OH! Is that baby brother?!?!” Haha! Just like he was going to pull up in the driveway. It is too cute to watch you process things in your own little way. You are so smart.

Easter is next weekend and your birthday is a few days after that. We are having your birthday party the weekend after Easter and the theme is Pancakes and Pearls. I have been working hard to get everything ready for your party and for your big girl room (one of your birthday gifts). I can’t wait for you to move into your new room. We keep talking about your big girl room and asking to go in and see it. I will post pictures of it soon! We can’t wait to celebrate your big second birthday!

(Easter is coming up and you LOVE to play with all of our Easter decorations)

I have been busy trying to get ready for baby brother, working on High Cotton Closet, and getting your big girl room ready for you. I have been doing a lot of painting, including a mural at Gappy and Grandma’s house.

We love you more than anything!
